End poverty with
secondary education
and good health

Who we are

We are a team of Canadians wanting to make a difference in the lives of young people residing in Bolivia. The situation of young people failing to attend high school was discovered by our president Willem Langelaan, during his numerous visits to Bolivia over the last 20 or so years. The desire to help spurred us on to create a Canadian charitable organization named the Bolivia Education Foundation.

This is what we propose

The Bolivia Education Foundation has initiated a strategic project called “Casas de Educación” or “Homes of Education”.

A Casa de Educación is embedded in an existing public high school complex. It forms an infra-structure for cooking, eating and studying. It has a capacity for 60 underprivileged teenage boys and girls between 14 and 18. The students receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch, have a place to study and do homework. They attend the local public high school. The Casa de Educación program pays for meals, school uniforms, school supplies, study books, supervision and monthly psychologist visits if required.

The Foundation’s mission is to develop Casas de Educación in High Schools near poor neighbourhoods around major cities in Bolivia, namely, Colcapirhua, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, La Paz/El Alto, Oruro, Potosí, Sucre and Tarija.
