Feeding Smiles Program - Gleaners Canada

Summary
The Feeding Smiles Gleaners Canada Program aims to contribute to the alleviation of hunger and malnutrition conditions among Venezuelan children, elderly and adults by providing at least 50,000 portions of dehydrated vegetables mix per month for a continued period of 12 months.
Helps households improve their children's nutritional needs instead of having to recur to undignified or illegal methods to obtain food. In order to achieve this, a collection initiative of pre-packaged food bags containing dehydrated vegetable mix manufactured in Canada.
One of these meal bags contains at least 100 portions, with 50,000 portions, we can feed at least 2500 people per day. The food packages are delivered to local partner organizations and food centers in Venezuela. The local team then proceeds to handle, prepare and distribute the meals to beneficiaries.
These products can be prepared in a variation of easy ways such as adding it to rice, soups or other meals to boost the daily caloric intake that a healthy nutrition requires.
Objectives
Provide at least one balanced meal a day to children, youth and adults in need (total of 50,000 portions of dehydrated vegetables Mix per month).
Raise children malnutrition awareness through comprehensive marketing and communication campaigns.
In collaboration with local partners, the program aims to contribute to the alleviation of hunger and improve the nutritional status of at least 2500 Venezuelan children, youth and adults in 10 provinces.
Partner organizations
Local Venezuelan community centers such as homes for children, youth and adults, community kitchens, schools and hospitals.
Local churches that deliver meals to public schools and people in the community with precarious nutritional conditions.
